Dating to 1920, this premier investment-grade revolver features a 4.75-inch barrel and has been treated to nearly full-coverage expert master level hand engraving by the world-famous Weldon Edwin "Big Bill" Lister Senior (father to famous engraver Weldon E. Lister Junior). The exquisite 19th-century style American Bank Note scrollwork is hand-cut with absolute precision against a tight punch-dot background, covering the frame, cylinder, and barrel before transitioning to a full custom nickel-plated finish.
The signature of this legendary artisan and famous country musician—who was a personal friend to Hank Williams Jr. and patriarch to a multi-generational engraving legacy—is cleanly chiseled on the front of the frame as his historic "WEL" mark. Beautifully contrasting with the bright nickel plating, all screws and small functional parts have been expertly finished in a vibrant polished royal blue. Elevating its exhibition-grade status, the revolver is fitted with a stunning set of genuine early aged ivory stocks adorned with silver Colt medallions, showing an exceptional fit to the grip straps.
The overall condition of this 1st Generation masterpiece is truly exceptional, retaining virtually all of the custom finish applied at the time of its engraving. Mechanically, the action remains perfectly crisp, cycling flawlessly with four perfect clicks. The bore is strong and bold with only a trace of light vintage frosting.
