Chambered in the legendary and flat-shooting .22 Hornet with a twenty-four inch round barrel, this specimen represents a golden age for the rifleman's rifle. Manufactured in 1939, this early production rifle is a cornerstone piece for any serious Winchester bolt-action gallery.
The actual rifle retains a classic deep blue finish and is stocked in traditional American walnut with distinct hand checkering. It is uniquely equipped with a highly desirable, very early J. Unertl 10x target scope that features clear optics and a crisp reticle. The barrel is correctly marked with the early date code and caliber designation, and the rear sight has been professionally replaced with a dovetail filler block.
This vintage Winchester is being offered as the rifle and optic combination shown. The firearm remains in good overall condition, showing honest signs of age including light wear, mild pitting, and scattered dings or hairline cracks in the wood.
