Atlas Collectible Firearms is truly honored to present what may be the finest surviving example of an Antique Civil War era 1864 Smith & Wesson No. 2 Army ("Old Army") tip-up revolver. This historically significant sidearm is chambered in .32 Rimfire and features the highly desirable 6-inch barrel. The top of the barrel rib is clearly marked with the Smith & Wesson Springfield, Mass. address and patent dates.
This is a Museum Grade / Investment Grade collector package that is virtually unheard of in this condition. It includes an extremely rare, original factory box and the original wood and brass cleaning rod. The revolver is fitted with its original factory smooth rosewood grips.
The condition of this Smith & Wesson is simply incredible, retaining nearly all of its original high-polish factory blued finish. The firearm displays vibrant fire bluing on the hinge screw and remains in mint mechanical configuration. While there is some minor scattered freckling on the cylinder and frame simply due to its 160+ year age, it is minimal and does not detract from the breathtaking overall presentation.
The bore is bright and near excellent, showing only mild oxidation while retaining very crisp rifling throughout. This is most likely the finest example of an 1864 No. 2 Army on the planet, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the premier S&W or Civil War collector.
