Having originally resided within the world-renowned, prestigious collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess and previously sold through the elite James D. Julia Auction Company, this historically documented treasure carries world-class provenance that places it in an absolute category of its own.
This breathtaking turn-of-the-century carbine features a crisp, elegant DWM scroll emblazoned on the center toggle link, displaying a dish-toggle configuration with a toggle lug. Exhibiting the highly specialized characteristics of a Georg Luger (GL) factory presentation piece that was subsequently finished and distributed commercially, the rear link is numbered on the underside while the receiver itself correctly remains completely unnumbered. The beautifully figured, checkered walnut forearm is precisely numbered "824" matching the serial number stamped on the factory-original wood-bottom magazine, while the rear of the frame displays a faint toolroom "224" stamp. The metal retains an exceptional 97% of its rich, original high-polished factory rust blue finish with only minor historical touch-ups, while the authentic factory-strawed small parts remain incredibly vibrant at 85% coverage.
Presented alongside its original James D. Julia auction tags and reference paperwork from its famous public sale nearly twelve years ago, this heirloom investment rig is a crown-jewel center-piece optimized for high-end gallery display.
