Built on S&W's iconic pre-war 5-screw I-Frame platform, this rare "Bekeart" style target wheelgun features a 6-inch pinned barrel, a 6-shot counterbored cylinder, an adjustable target rear sight, a target front sight blade, and a deep, high-luster factory blued finish. Verifying 100% factory numbers-matching originality across all key components, serial number 364431 is sharply stamped on the frame butt, cylinder face, and barrel flat, making this century-old rimfire revolver an extraordinary investment-grade centerpiece for discerning collectors.
Fitted with a set of pre-war factory checkered walnut extended target grips marked with a June 5, 1917 patent date on the butt, the revolver retains its authentic target configuration. The pistol is housed in its original hinged pre-war purple Smith & Wesson factory box, featuring a crisp yellow end label identifying "SMITH & WESSON .22/.32 - Target, BLUED - 6 INCH." The package comes complete with the original factory "Helpful Hints" instruction paper.
This pre-war 22/32 Target remains consumer unfired and shows only minor handling marks from age and storage. The original deep factory bluing retains full, dark coverage across all metal surfaces, while the case-hardened hammer and trigger showcase rich, vivid color contrast. Mechanically, the hand-fitted 5-screw action functions with smooth double and single-action timing, vault-tight cylinder lockup, and a crisp trigger break, while the 6-inch pinned barrel preserves a mirror-bright, pristine bore with sharp, razor-clean rifling throughout.
