Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly honored to present this one-of-a-kind prototype Smith & Wesson Model 66-1 “Great Americans” series revolver, a legendary piece of our American history. Manufactured in 1980 and chambered in .357 Magnum with a 4-inch barrel, this revolver was a Prototype conceptual masterpiece for a commemorative series that never entered full production. It represents a rare intersection of mechanical perfection and high-art historical tribute.
This stainless steel revolver features full Class A master coverage foliate scrollwork and punch-dot shading by S&W factory master engraver Domingos Joaquim. A highly detailed brass inlay hand-carved portrait of Abraham Lincoln adorns the frame, while the cylinder flats are engraved with the iconic closing lines of the Gettysburg Address. The backstrap is uniquely embellished with a striking "Green Man" motif, showcasing Joaquim’s unparalleled creative range.
Accompanying this firearm is a deluxe wooden presentation case with a vibrant red velvet-lined interior. The revolver is fitted with factory-smooth Goncalo Alves grips featuring silver S&W medallions, both in excellent condition. This prototype remains in superior collector grade condition, showing only the faintest evidence of handling from display. It stands as a significant investment-quality rarity for the advanced Smith & Wesson connoisseur.
