Atlas Collectible Firearms is proud to present this museum-quality Pre-War Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer semi-automatic pistol chambered in .38 ACP. This historic firearm, a direct mechanical precursor to the legendary M1911, was manufactured just before the start of World War I and has been finished in a stunning Deluxe Charcoal Blue. The pistol has been transformed into a masterpiece through Masterful Hand Engraving by the world renowned Alvin Scott, featuring intricate full-coverage scrollwork accented by expertly executed 24K Gold Wire Inlays that border the slide, frame, trigger guard and fill the serial number.
The level of artistry on this piece is extraordinary, with the artist’s signature "AL Scott" elegantly engraved on the right side of the frame. This 1903 is fitted with a set of Presentation Grade Genuine Elephant Ivory grips, which provide a magnificent creamy contrast to the deep charcoal blue and gold embellishments. The engraving continues across the top of the slide and down the front strap and back strap, ensuring every surface reflects a superior level of craftsmanship. The package is beautifully presented in a deluxe wood glass-top display case.
The overall condition of this historic Colt is pristine collector grade, showing only a few minor scattered specs of old freckling consistent with its age. Mechanically, the pistol remains excellent, and while the bore is excellent, it does show some signs of honest wear and natural dulling. This is a rare opportunity for the elite collector to own a signed, master-engraved example of one of Colt's most important early automatic designs.
