Chambered in the legendary .45 Colt with the highly sought-after 4.75-inch barrel, this specimen is a true "Prohibition Era" survivor. With only roughly 1,100 total units manufactured in 1928 across all configurations, this revolver represents a pinnacle of rarity from one of Hartford’s most limited production years, serving as an unobtainable time capsule of American history. There were only a handful of these made in this configuration during this period of time.
The revolver features its original factory bright nickel finish which remains in exceptionally fine condition, retaining a mirror-like luster rarely seen on a century-old firearm. While the included Colt Archive Letter states the gun originally shipped with rubber stocks, it has been appropriately upgraded with a set of magnificent, genuine early period elephant ivory grips. These grips feature period-correct factory Colt silver medallions and exhibit a warm, natural patina that perfectly complements the brilliant nickel surfaces.
This investment-grade treasure is uniquely complete with its original Colt Archive Letter, confirming a July 10, 1928, shipment to Richards and Conover Hardware Company in Kansas City, Missouri. All serial numbers are matching and original throughout the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Housed in a custom deluxe wooden glass-top presentation case with a plush red velvet interior, this high-condition 1st Gen SAA stands as a blue-chip cornerstone for the world's most elite Colt collections.
