Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly honored to present this extremely rare 1912 Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine. Chambered in the hard-hitting .38-40 WCF with a 20-inch barrel, this special-ordered specimen features the elusive factory half-magazine. Manufactured in 1912, this pre-war carbine represents a spectacular example of Winchester's legendary lever-action craftsmanship.
The actual rifle is a work of high art, featuring extensive period master engraving in the traditional factory style. The receiver displays a magnificent game scene featuring a stag/deer, strongly resembling the renowned work of John Ulrich. It retains a majority of its early re-applied blue finish with visible traces of color case hardening on the hammer & lever, complemented by an original vintage Marbles peep sight.
This historic investment package includes the official Winchester archive letter from the Cody Firearms Museum. The firearm remains in very solid condition with a fine, functional action and a bore that shows strong rifling despite mild pitting. The stock exhibits a couple very old professional repairs around the neck. Given the rare special-order configuration and world-class engraving, this carbine stands as a premier centerpiece for the most advanced Winchester gallery.
