Atlas Collectible Firearms is proud to present this extraordinary Pre-WWI 1904 manufactured Winchester Model 1903 semi-automatic rifle, chambered in the extremely rare & proprietary .22 Winchester Automatic caliber (.22 Auto - NOT .22 Long Rifle). This example has been transformed into a deluxe presentation piece by Winchester Factory Master Engraver Nick Kusmit and is signed!

This spectacular rifle features the 20-inch round barrel and a early deep blued custom finish. It is masterfully hand engraved with extensive American scrollwork. The receiver boasts detailed vignettes: a fox scene on the left and a praire dog scene on the right. Additional engraving is found on the butt plate, tang, and trigger guard. The walnut stock features fine checkered wrist (H-type) and a matching forearm. The provenance is confirmed by the included Cody Firearms Records Office document.

After careful examination, we believe that this rifle was engraved by Nick Kusmit after he left Winchester and began doing freelance work. The engraving is exactly as it would have been done at the factory and Kusmit signed it in his very typical fashion with ''NK'' inconspicuously in the fox panel scene on the bottom left side of receiver.

The historical letter states this rifle was manufactured on July 15th 1904 but strangly was not shipped out until March 29 of 1905 the following year. This gap in manufacture & shipment date may mean there was something special about this rifle or it may have been used by the factory or salesman for display but this is simply our speculation.

The overall condition is Excellent with the rifle retaining nearly all of its custom finish showing only minor handling marks. The bore is excellent showing good rifling with some frosting. The action is mechanically sound and reliable. A genuinely stunning & historically significant, custom-embellished piece of American firearms history.
