Atlas Collectible Firearms is proud to present this TRULY HISTORIC Antique 1883 Colt Single Action Army revolver chambered in .44-40 Winchester (.44 WCF), the famous "Frontier Six Shooter" caliber. This is an extremely rare and historically significant 1st Generation SAA, shipped to the New York dealer Harley & Graham "in the soft" (without final finish) for engraving outside the factory. Very few examples exist that letter in this manner, making this pistol out of this world rare.

This SAA features extensive Period Master Engraving attributed to the famous Master Engraver L.D. Nimschke who was Harley & Graham's engraver during this period. The engraving remains heavily worn but still retains a majority of the work, with the deepest and clearest engraving on the frame sides and right side of the barrel.

The revolver is configured in a period custom "Gunslinger Configuration," suggesting use by a Lawman or Outlaw in the late 1800s Old West. This custom configuration includes:

A non-standard 5-inch barrel, cut down from the original 7.5 inches.
An extended ejector rod for faster reloading.
An early-period upgraded cylinder base pin for ease & quick cleaning.
It is fitted with period Elephant Ivory Grips that are in very nice aged condition, remaining solid and tight. The grips have three drilled holes on the right panel, likely for a gold or silver inlaid medallion. All numbers are matching on this Colt, including the barrel and cylinder. The pistol is housed in a vintage style walnut display case and includes the Colt Archive Letter.

The action is fully functional with good timing and all four hammer clicks. However, the revolver does have some cylinder end play and rotational slop. The bore is pitted and dull but retains good, somewhat defined rifling, and the cylinder chambers are decent as well. An incredible and rare opportunity to own a historically significant, master-engraved antique Colt SAA.
