Atlas Collectible Firearms is exceptionally pleased to present this masterfully engraved pre-war Winchester Model 1892 Deluxe. Manufactured in 1909 and chambered in the versatile .25-20 W.C.F. with a 24-inch octagon barrel, this rifle is a stunning example of turn-of-the-century craftsmanship. Built on the smooth John Browning-designed action, it represents a high-water mark for Winchester’s legendary lever-action lineage.
The firearm features a coin-style bright finished receiver embellished with early custom hand engraving similar to Winchester’s factory style 9. This intricate work includes deep foliate scrollwork, fancy borders, and a beautiful game scene depicting a mule deer buck on the left side. It is stocked in fancy high-grade claro walnut with style H checkering, a crescent steel buttplate, and a hard rubber capped pistol grip. Left inside of lower tang is marked with assembly no. "7596" and wood grade marking "X".
The rifle is equipped with a brass blade front sight, a Marble Express rear sight, and a combination tang sight for precision aiming. While the blued octagon barrel shows some historical spotted surface corrosion, the wood remains in excellent condition with a rich, glowing finish. The mechanics are sound and the bore is slightly dark with light scattered pitting. This 1909 Deluxe remains a premier investment-quality piece that would serve as a focal point in any world-class Winchester collection.
