Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly excited to present a breathtaking masterwork of 19th-century history: a Colt Single Action Army manufactured in 1880. This antique revolver, produced in the seventh year of production, features a 5.5-inch barrel and has been expertly converted to .22 Rimfire (most likely original chambering was .45 LC or .44-40 Winchester). This firearm strongly resembles the work of legendary engravers Cole Agee & Weldon Bledsoe, exhibiting the scrollwork of a true master.
The revolver boasts a stunning two-tone aesthetic with the frame, barrel, and grip frame finished in brilliant nickel, while the cylinder, ejector tube, hammer, and small parts are adorned in rich gold wash/plating (hammer has started to thin). It is fitted with an exceptional set of pre war era genuine mother of pearl grips that remain in remarkable condition. This early blackpowder-frame specimen retains the original early screw-in style frame, doughnut ejector, bullseye base pin and 3-line address patent dates.
This masterpiece is housed in a custom vintage-style walnut presentation case with a vibrant red velour-lined interior. Both the bore and mechanical action remain in good order, reflecting the professional quality of the early 20th-century conversion and engraving. This represents a rare opportunity to own a museum-grade "Agee style" Colt that serves as a cornerstone of investment-grade Western Americana.
