Atlas Collectible Firearms is proud to present this HOLY GRAIL Colt Custom Shop Single Action Army SAA “Cutaway” Special Production model, a piece of Hartford history manufactured circa 1991. This specimen is one of only 100 units produced and holds the distinction of being the first purpose-built cutaway edition ever released by Colt manufacturing. The revolver is chambered in the classic .45 Long Colt with a 4.75-inch barrel, it features the standard fixed blade front and top strap notch rear sights, alongside the traditional one-line Colt address and caliber roll-marks. This specialized model was engineered to showcase the mechanical genius of the "Peacemaker," making it a premier educational and investment-grade centerpiece for the advanced Colt enthusiast.

The aesthetic and functional profile of this revolver is defined by its meticulous factory cutaway sections located on the cylinder, frame, trigger mechanism, recoil shield, and under the front sight, providing a clear view of the internal workings. The firearm is finished in a brilliant original Bright Nickel plating, beautifully accented by Vibrant Fire Blued accents on the trigger, cylinder pin, ejector rod head, and all external screws. It is fitted with a unique set of one-piece walnut grips that feature a single Colt medallion on the right side and a matching cutaway section on the left. Masterfully executed, the right side of the frame remains intact to display the classic two-line patent dates and Rampant Colt logo, while the left side serves as a window into the pistol's soul.

This investment grade SAA package is highly complete, including the original maroon Colt "Heritage" box and the matching numbered Colt Custom Shop end label confirming its unique configuration. The revolver remains in excellent condition, retaining 99% plus of its original nickel and 98% plus of its fire blue finish, with all serial numbers matching across the frame, cylinder, and loading gate. Accompanied by the original factory paperwork and the "Colt Companion" booklet, this rare 1-of-100 made Special Edition represents a singular opportunity for a collector to own a factory-sanctioned mechanical marvel. This is because 35 of the 100 total revolvers featured factory engraving and they used the same end labels on all of the engraved examples as well as some of the non-engraved examples like this one.
