Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly honored to present this holy grail of the modern sporting rifle world: a pre-ban 1988 Colt AR-15 A2 Government Model finished in ultra rare factory “Z-Cote” camouflage. Chambered in .223 Remington (5.56mm NATO) with a 20-inch heavy barrel, this R6550CC model was a Colt Custom Shop special offering. It represents an incredible piece of history with only 250 units ever produced.
This tactical masterpiece features the legendary "Z-Cote" factory camouflage finish, which extends across the receivers, barrel, furniture and is marked with the patented “Z” on the front of the magwell. The fixed A2-style stock and handguards are constructed of high-strength composition nylon, also wearing the original camouflage pattern. The craftsmanship is typical of the pre-ban era, featuring the iconic carry handle and traditional front sight base.
This package includes a laminated original Colt Archive Letter confirming its rare configuration and its shipment on June 30, 1988. Also included is one correct pre-ban Colt magazine. This rifle remains in collector grade condition, showing minimal signs of handling or use. As one of the scarcest production AR-15s in existence, it represents a blue-chip investment for the elite Colt collector.
