Fully documented by the included original Smith & Wesson factory letter signed by historian Roy G. Jinks, the records confirm this exact handgun was shipped on October 11th, 1967, delivered to Texas Gun Clinic Inc. in Houston, Texas. The factory letter explicitly verifies its highly specialized configuration of a factory high-polish blue finish, red ramp front sight, white outline rear sight, target trigger, target hammer, and a pair of gorgeous checkered Goncalo Alves target square butt grips. It is estimated that fewer than 20 of these revolvers were ever custom-ordered in this exact square butt frame configuration with a factory 3-inch barrel, making it an elite rarity for the advanced Smith & Wesson accumulator.
This museum-tier collector's package arrives completely intact with its original factory options and tracking materials. The inclusive set features the matching original S&W blue text box with the factory end label correctly typed for model 19-2, blue finish (Bl), 3-inch barrel (3), target stock (T), and checked checkmarks for target hammer (TH) and target trigger (TT). The original serial number K709758 is perfectly stamped on the frame crane, the cylinder face, and precisely handwritten on the bottom of the factory box label. Additionally, the revolver retains its original factory paper inserts, warranty literature, product pamphlet, and the original unspent S&W cleaning rod kit with its wire brush and mop components still sealed in the factory plastic wrapping.
The condition of this pre-1970 Combat Magnum is absolutely exceptional, remaining in pristine, as-new condition showing no signs of consumer firing or mechanical use since leaving Springfield. The deep, rich factory original blue finish is virtually flawless, showing nearly 100% coverage with only the most nominal handling evidence. The target hammer and target trigger retain vivid, highly distinct factory color case-hardened hues. The Goncalo Alves target hardwood grips are in exceptionally fine condition with razor-sharp checkering panels, completely free of scuffs, chips, or shrinkage cracks. Mechanically, the action locks up vault-tight with robust indexing and perfect timing, while the 3-inch barrel preserves a mirror-bright bore with crisp, razor-sharp rifling lines. The original blue presentation box remains in very good condition, exhibiting only typical, honest age-related edge shelf wear.
