Atlas Collectible Firearms is proud to present this highly significant Factory Hand Engraved 1967 Savage Model 99M-DE Grade lever action rifle chambered in .308 Winchester. This rifle is notable for being featured on pages 275-278 of the new book on special Savage Model 99s by David Royal. This special-edition rifle, brought out in 1965, represents one of the most highly embellished variants of the classic Model 99 platform.

The rifle features a 22-inch barrel with a high polish blue finish, complemented by a jeweled bolt and plated lever with light engraving. The frame is distinguished by scroll engraved panels on both sides, featuring antlered game on the base with expertly engraved borders. It is fitted with a gold-plated trigger, top tang safety, and an alloy butt plate with the Savage Indian Head logo. The rifle boasts a deluxe walnut stock with a Monte Carlo comb, press checkering, and matching capped pistol grip.

The overall condition is excellent. The barrel retains a deep blue finish with only minor handling marks. The deluxe stocks are fine, showing some minor impressions but no major damage. The frame retains virtually all of its plating but does show some minor bubbling, typical of Savage plating from this era. The bore is bright, and the mechanics are strong. A truly unique and documented piece of Savage history.
