Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly honored to present a historical masterpiece of rimfire manufacturing: an ultra-rare 1911 production Remington Model 12F Grade 6 Premier Grade pump-action rifle chambered in .22 Caliber (technically the early examples are designated as the “Pre-Model 12 Grade 6 Premier”). This exceptional specimen represents the final year before the line was formally designated by the factory as the "Model 12". Because of this early timeline, the rifle does not feature a model number stamped on the barrel to the left of the barrel address. Instead, it proudly bears the highly desirable and early style "Remington Works" barrel address, used prior to the factory reorganization and production shifts of around 1912–1913.
The premium status of this rifle is immediately evident from its 24-inch octagonal barrel, a dead giveaway for a factory high-grade configuration compared to the standard 22-inch round barrels of the era. The receiver exhibits spectacular, full-coverage Factory Master Hand Engraving. The two factory Remington engravers at this time were Joe Loy and Owen DeLange. The right side displays a detailed diamond-shaped panel featuring two rabbits running through field grass, while the left side showcases a squirrel perched on a tree branch, all surrounded by fine foliate scrollwork and elegant geometric borders. This fine scrollwork correctly extends to the top of the receiver block and continues behind the hammer where the serial number 57385 is neatly engraved.
The rifle is fitted with its factory original high-grade Exhibition Level walnut furniture, beautifully appointed with deluxe hand-checkering on the pistol grip and forend and features the correct early style “round-knob”. The finish on the metal surfaces and the wood grain appears to be entirely original, though the wood may have received a light coat of protective lacquer over its lifetime. Mechanically, the pump action functions properly and smoothly, and the bore is mostly bright with fairly sharp rifling. This represents a premier, potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire a factory master-engraved early Remington .22 caliber masterpiece that anchors the most advanced long-gun collection.
