Atlas Collectible Firearms is exceptionally proud to present this Holy Grail Winchester Model 50, a masterwork of mid-century American firearms artistry. Chambered in the desirable 20 Gauge for 2-3/4" shells, this specialized semi-automatic shotgun features a 28-inch ventilated rib barrel with a "FULL" choke designation. This specimen was manufactured in 1957 and stands as a premier example of Winchester’s custom-shop craftsmanship.
The visual profile of this Model 50 is extraordinary, featuring elaborate "No. 2 Pattern" factory engraving performed by legendary Winchester Custom Shop Master Engraver Nick Kusmit. The receiver displays high-relief vignettes including a pointer in a field on the right side and flushing waterfowl on the left, all bordered by fine scrollwork. This elite presentation is further enhanced by a specialized engine-turned (jeweled) bolt and carrier. Adorning the firearm is a set of deluxe high-grade American walnut stocks featuring "A" carving performed by Winchester Custom Shop checkerer Edward Kaik. Every roll-mark remains factory-sharp, including the "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" marking and the "PIGEON" grade designation on the receiver extension.
The condition of this Winchester is excellent, showing only very light handling marks consistent with a carefully preserved investment arm. The mechanical action remains smooth and precise, and the bore is in perfect condition. This investment-grade package is supported by a significant provenance letter from Pauline Muerrle, a former Winchester Custom Shop Engraver and historian. This letter confirms the master engraver, the specific carving pattern, and that the "X" suffix indicates a factory-documented duplicate serial number. As a documented specimen of a factory-engraved Pigeon Grade Model 50, this shotgun stands as a cornerstone acquisition for the advanced Winchester or sporting arms collector.
