Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly honored to present one of the most elusive treasures in the world of S&W collecting: an extremely rare 1973 production Smith & Wesson Model 50 Target. Chambered in .38 Special with a 2-inch barrel, this J-frame is essentially a target-sighted version of the Chief’s Special. Produced only on special request in tiny quantities, this specimen is a true pinnacle for the advanced collector.
The revolver features a stunning factory high-polish blue finish that remains incredibly deep and mirror-like. It is uniquely equipped with a factory adjustable rear target sight and a pinned ramp front sight, a configuration seldom seen on a snub-nose frame. The firearm is stocked with its original checkered walnut service grips, which display crisp checkering and silver S&W medallions, completing the classic aesthetic.
This museum-quality investment arrives 100% complete with its original blue box, matching hand-marked end label denoting "Target" features, the original factory cleaning kit, and various paperwork. Most importantly, it includes an original 1975-dated S&W historian letter signed by Roy Jinks, confirming its March 27, 1973, shipping date. The firearm remains in collector condition showing minimal superficial handling and very limited use, if any. This collector grade specimen represents a blue-chip acquisition.
